Retics + Scrubs - Relation?

just got my dwarf retics in and settled (Selayar locality) and i would say one of my immediate impressions so far is that they remind me a lot of my scrubs (Merauke locality) and how they look and move - is there a possibility that the 2 species bare any close relation?

My brief amateur research leads me to believe that they are no more closely related to each other than they are to any of the other pythons.

As a matter of fact, after I had a long conversation with Nick Mutton, I learned carpet pythons are more closely related to retics than scrubs.
