Little Cinder is a weirdo, but I love her
Last week I got my first hognose after about a month of communicating with her breeder, from hatch to first meal to coming home! I've wanted a hognose for years but the planets just kind of aligned and I was able to pick her up last week. Needless to say she's taking me by surprise. I was prepared for the usual skittish baby snakes that I have kept over the years and fully expected to only see her every so often, but she settled in immediately and is probably the bravest and most "social" snake I've ever owned. I adore her and never would have thought that I'd find a hognose with such a sweet disposition.

    Welcome Miss Cinder!

What a little cutie-pie! But just remember that even when snakes don't "appear" to be stressed, they often are, so don't over-do the "social time" (handling). All snakes need time to settle in, relax & feel safe. Also, with small snakes especially, it's easy to over-heat them while handling them- remember that your hands are 98.6*- :snake: I love her coloration, btw.

Absolutely! These were all taken on the day I got her, about a week ago. Checked her out, snapped some pics, weighed her, and put her away. Since then it's just been a joy taking care of her and watching her in her enclosure. It's definitely hands off until she eats for me, but her breeder told me she's a beast and eats no problem! So I'm definitely excited. She has a habit of popping out of her burrows and trying to wiggle her way into my hand when I'm replacing her water. The first time it happened I couldn't quite figure out what was up, but otherwise she seems to be doing pretty well. And yes, she's SO pretty. I'm hooked for sure.

That's quite something for her to be so calm and a great eater so young. Congrats!
