GTP Any way to guess what it will look like
Next week i get to pick out a neonate GTP. Is there any way to guess what they will turn into. I know the parents can give you an idea, but can you see a yellow neonate and say, chances are he will grow up to be Yellow. Or see a red neonate with yellow scales vs white and figure he will be yellow. Or pick a red one an have a better chance of green. Or is it, as far as we know completely random.
Re: GTP Any way to guess what it will look like
It isn't 100% random, but you might as well look at it that way.
Your best bet is to look at the parents as that will give you about the only indicators that are available.
Re: GTP Any way to guess what it will look like
Reds have a higher chance of developing blues, but yellow/red will both turn green unless the parents are canary or pure blues or something else. If it's at a pet store, you can pretty much count on it being a normal green gtp, which is still freakin awesome.
Re: GTP Any way to guess what it will look like
Reds and yellow neos can and probably will develop blues. Almost every chondro I've seen has blue some where. In high end pairings reds are favored over yellow because of the darker pigment. All of them undergo ontogenic color change. Even true canaries change their dorsal markings. Changes are it will be green. Some lucky people have gotten crazy animals out of normal babies, but it's rare. All chondros are cool though, so you'll be happy.

Who produced the animal? What type of pairing did it come from? Any pics?
Re: GTP Any way to guess what it will look like
No pic's from the one this weekend. I picked a red one and i'll wait a few more weeks before bringing it home. Baby chondros are intimidating. I have decided you can't go wrong. Here is another pairing i'm keeping an eye on to see if i can get on of their offspring: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...dro/cpula1.jpg

Aru x biak. Very cool, who produced?
Re: GTP Any way to guess what it will look like
Looks like a biak x biak pairing to me, i can see the maroon baby pattern on both of them, and that green is a typical biak green on the pair as well. Either way, pure biaks are always sweet:gj:

I was told it is a Wamena x Biak. It is a local breeder here in Mexico, you can check out their website at http://www.regius.com.mx/.

hum....I know u two know better then to guess local..lol..
as we all know a cross can confuse even the best.
as for the subject on picking a better neo. take a look at the pattern and look at the other neos fromt he clutch...some just stand out more than others. I like a thicker stripe down the back.
but with any Gtp - u are getting a great animal.
Quality is priceless if u spend the money to get a highend one..:gj:
