Hmmmm.... from the Richmond show
I went to the Richmond Reptile Expo last Sunday and was wandering around when I saw a vendor selling het for pied balls for $65 each...... hmmmm..... could this be right? I know I read the price and description correctly. Do you guys and girls think that this vendor was trying to unload some normals with a het for pied title or do these snakes really go for such a low price? I think that when you breed a peid to a het you get some that are normal and some that are het but don't they all look normal with no way to tell if they are actually het? I don't remember who the vendor was but they had a very nice display and some fantastic looking bps, and most were priced as I expected them to be, but this group just seemed a little low priced...... Any thoughts?

Re: Hmmmm.... from the Richmond show
Breeders have seen that there is great money to be had in hets. And because they can keep the prices high on females the number of males they sale offsets the price drop. You look at a lot of signatures on here and they like this
1.0 het ghost
1.0 het pied
1.0 het albino
1.0 66% het axanthic
hets are a big business I mean you can sell a normal looking male for 200 - 100 why wouldn't you what to sell hets I mean I plan on selling hets. Also they are alot of peoples first "morph" introduction.

Another thing to consider is are they 100% hets? That effects the price significantly.

I was going to say, I'm pretty sure that I remember what table he saw those at, and that table had A LOT of possible het males on it...66% ph pied males included.

If you are just getting into this biz you dont just want recessives...you definetly want at least 2 different co dom males....If all you have for sale is het males and het females and NO visuals....Why is someone going to believe they are true hets? If you have some spiders and pastels on the table along with hets, than you look more legit...Not saying you are lying if you only have hets for sale...But why would anyone want to take a risk with someone not well known?
