Bingo!!! but also treat any cage furniture the same as the tanks and substrate.

I dunno about the hides, but do NOT spray the water dish!! If you fear it might be infested with mite eggs (if it's porous?) then throw it away and get a new one.

Don't treat the water dish. Just remove the water bowl, treat the cage, and replace it once the cage dries out. PAM is safe when dry, not so safe when wet. I meant to ask Pro-Products at Daytona if misting the cage in the days after a treatment is still safe...

No to the water dish. Oh and feed in a different enclosure while using PAM never ever feed on treated substrate.

The idea is that the stuff dries on everything (except the water bowl) and when the mite jump off to lay their eggs they get killed and the snake movings around rubs them on the treated stuff killing them.

can someone comment on whether or not you can keep a water dish in a treated enclosure ?

Whenever I get a new snake, I treat the tub with PAM and place the water dish in the treated cage immediately after it dries and never had any issues. I know others who do the same and also have not had any problems.

Re: How to use Provent a mite, without killing your snake

Yeah Humidity is steady at 57-62% Temps on warm side are about 90, but at night around 80-86 cool side is around 80-85 and at night around 78. I guess thats what you get for living in Canada. I am building a new rack soon, you can see it on my previous post, looks nice.. I just have to wait for my flexwatt and herpstat to come in.. Yeah maybe I should soak the water dish in bleach and hot water then rinse throughly after so there is no sent. Also I'm debating to build a tank for him like this:

sorry If I'm not allowed to post links to another forum..

Anyways, any more advice on what I should do, enclosures and PAM?

Re: How to use Provent a mite, without killing your snake

Just in case anyone was interested, Bob Pound of Pro-Products got back to me in response to the question of whether or not PAM would still be safe if the treated cage becomes wet. Here's his response:

    Brad,

Once PAM has completely dried on a surface, it is not water soluble, so will remain intact and effective in high humidity enclosures and is not affected by misting. In fact, you can wash the cage with soap and water and there will still be sufficient residual left to continue to kill mites and ticks.

So what your saying is that if I spray my tank lets say 1 week after the treatment has been sprayed it won't affect the snake?
