    WEIRD QUESTION.Need help,PLease URGENT

    Question,
How do you remove something VERY STICKY from your snake?
(carpet tape)(she got under the carpet)
will Rubbing alcohol hurt her scales/skin?
I'm afraid she will get stuck to her rack or worse melt on her from her belly heater!
    PLEASE RESPOND ASAP!
i wanna get it off if I can w/o hurting her, before shed. shed probably wont be for weeks.
    thanks-DORROX

I would firs cut away any ape that is not stuck down on her before it sticks, while you find out what to use to loosen the sticky...... DO NOT PULL IT OFF!!!!

I'm thinking soaking her in warm water???? MAYBE with a DOT of dish soap.... but get a second opinion on the soap first.............

Try using mineral oil. Curiosity is killing me - how did it get under the carpet?

I agree baby oil would work the best...very slow work, use a Qtip and take your time so you don't rip anything.

I have 2 great danes and 1 ate the carpet so we tried to fix it, but still there is a hole and she was in it before i could grab her. the soap/water did not help. I didnt even think of the baby oil, I'll try that now. I WILL NOT PULL IT OFF, my god what a hole that would leave, I dont want to hurt her, its bad enough its on her. I'll try that and get back to you's. THANKS SO MUCH already.
Im sure if she could talk she would say thanks too!- dorrox

just a thought but how close to shed is she when was the last time it shed??
if it in going to be in the next few days i might just cut away any tape that is not connected. then take anything out of the cage that it could snag it on. then wait for a shed. i bet it would come off with 1 good shed. but if you have had problems with sheds in the past i would not go this route. keep in mind these are things that i would do after trying the things that the others have told you. you have gotten some good optinos here hope we all have given you some options.

Vegatable oil, baby oil/soap, olive oil.........any of the three will work.

I keep sticky insect traps in my reptile room to keep crickets from getting everywhere. Sometimes, anoles sneek in through the window and get caught. I have also had a Children's python escape and get caught in one. In the case of the snake, some 'sticky' residue was still on it after removing it from the trap with oil. I just rubbed some dirt on it to keep the aspen substrate from sticking to it and it shed off with the next shed.

Rubbing dirt or something on any remaining sticky residue is a very good idea to avoid more things getting stuck.

Peanut butter is surprisingly effective at removing many sticky things. I know nothing about whether or not it would be safe with a snake. I know some people are so allergic to peanuts that just touching the oil on their skin can cause a reaction.

    Re: WEIRD QUESTION.Need help,PLease URGENT

Well, the Baby oil helped alot and we put baby powder on it to help with the residue. she isn't sticky anymore, and all the actual tape is off. so I think that should do it for us till she sheds in 2 weeks...(she just shed like a week ago) Hence my freak out! Peanut butter is good for removing chewing gum out of hair. same with ice. Not sure about snake peanut allergies. I guess that would be trial and error. Funny how in a crisis you cant remember anything, but when your calmed down about it, the thoughts flow thru. We are very thankful for the quick responses by everyone, I dont think I could have remembered any of those things as quickly as i would have liked. So THANKS AGAIN hope this post helps others with similar situations!
Keep up the good work! HERE HERE!
