Hmm, having some ASF's myself, it doesn't seem bad at all, if you are going to keep this animal as a breeder for the forseable future and you had ASF's this wouldn't be a problem, but if you planned on moving it down the road, then I see what you mean. Chances are you could send the rats/mice with ASF's bedding (if you had access to that) and the snake would take them (Just a little trick I learned from a mister Freaky Frog!).

Re: The reason why I do not like ASF's

I have had gret luck getting two picky eaters to start taking rat chubs that were scented with ASF bedding. The thing to remember is that if the animal is eating and growing and you have the option of feeding ASF's then its no big deal. But for some one that doesn't breed ASF's or have access to them then yes it could be an issue.

I just hope that breeders aren't just jumping to ASF's with out first trying other options to gett picky feeders to eat. I tried for two years to get one to eat regulary but untill I got ASF's it was no dice.

Its not that I hate ASFs, I just hope that it does not become common( Which hasnt been a problem) I think they breeder should get her back onto Rats or mice because I bet her being locked on ASFs has shortened his chance on getting her sold.

Re: The reason why I do not like ASF's

It's not the rats' fault that the snake is a picky feeder. Most normal feeding balls will switch readily between the ASFs and the normal rats. If the snake is feeding fine and is healthy what difference does it make what it's eating?

It only makes a difference if the snake won't switch back, or the breeder did not share that the important info that the snake was feeding on ASFs and now the new owner is having a problem feeding it.
