It's the umbilicus. Just rinse the hatchling off and put him/her on some soppy paper towels. The snake should absorb most of it and it will dry up and fall off. The belly will close up soon. No biggie

ugh thats what i was thinking. yeah he/she is already in a tub with moist paper towels. just from the pictures i was seeing it looked different. my first time im a little paranoid...
