    Me - Newbie scooby
    Hi all,

I'm Iain originally from the UK but now live in Java, in Yogyakarta; with my wife and kids.

I bought a snake in June, so decided to join this group as I've read (as a guest) for a while.

I put new pictures up of our snake (Felix, morf lucy hef ghost) in his new home, in the BP pictures forum - Take a look and give as much feddback as possible :)

I did have a snake in the UK but over 20 yrs ago now and things have moved on since then....It was a rainbow boa, which sadly died too soon; I was out of my depth and didn't have much help back then.

    That's it I think.

Welcome. Felix is beautiful. You are rightly proud of him.

Yeah. Rainbow boas aren't great beginner snakes. My early efforts at reptile keeping were sadly unsucccessful as well. You live and learn. You'll have an easier time with your ball python. Particularly now that you've joined the forum.

    Hi,

Yes the rainbow boa was a snap young uneducated decision to buy....because it was in the shop and I wanted a snake .

Reading on here there are many very educated and knowledgeable people to learn from.

Just looking forward to expanding my understanding and being a good father to snakes in the future

I agree, a rainbow boa was a very unfortunate "first choice" but many of us have made similar mistakes. We all have had so much to learn...;)

    :welcome:

    Welcome to the board!
It’s been great help especially learning the hard way from impulse decisions or misinformation or both. Took me 15 years to take in another cold blooded friend after an unnecessary loss.
There’s always so much to learn about husbandry and your individual animal, but Royals are a great way to get back into the hobby.

For sure the boa was a rash decision but I recall it being too good to refuse purchase, as I wanted a snake. Joining the forum will help me to be better this time around.

Indeed there is a lot to learn about husbandry, which is probably the most key feature in caring for snakes.
