It's the umbilicus. Just rinse the hatchling off and put him/her on some soppy paper towels. The snake should absorb most of it and it will dry up and fall off. The belly will close up soon. No biggie :)

ugh thats what i was thinking. yeah he/she is already in a tub with moist paper towels. just from the pictures i was seeing it looked different. my first time :) im a little paranoid...
