I'd pay the extra just to have one in my collection

Looks like someone was working on their car, reached for a rag and whiped their dirty hands on an albino....

Re: Paradox Albino?!?!
I have a 1.1 het albino out of Paul Edward's paradox albino. I know it's not proven genetic(in fact looks more like non-genetic) but I figure more likely to have that aberrant gene in one out of one, than not.
At any rate I should have some nice albinos next year. Sweet pic, love it!

Extermely Interesting! I am guessing this was discovered by crossing these "normal pattern paradox" albinos with standard albinos and getting some normals. How many animals are we talking about here--Has this been tested with more than one normal pattern paradox albino?

No--A het albino is heterozygous at the albino loci. Meaning it carriers one gene version (allele) that is normal and one that is the recessive albino mutation. Apparently Cue has relayed the observation that some of the paradox albinos with a pattern like normals are not homozygous recessive like normal albinos, instead they are hets. I'm not sure how this knowledge was acquired.
A 50% het albino is short for 50% possible heterozygous. This means there is a 50/50 chance that the snake carries one albino allele (in other words, a 50% chance that it is heterozygous!) Possible heterozygotes always appear normal and are produce by genetic crosses involving at least one het.
While a proven het x proven het crossing gives albinos and 66% possible hets, a proven het x normal cross gives 50% possible hets.
Hope that helps and this is why it's important to know and understand genetic terminology.
