Breeding brother/sister?

it is possible, and done. it is often used to keep a bloodline pure. for example pastels, the different lines are breed together to keep the certain lines pure.

it is also done when working with hets and people with smaller collections, or people that are just starting to breed.

I've never heard of such a thing?

Also, I've never heard of anyone having any problems breeding ball python siblings together ... there are some mutations that are just "squirrely" and have some issues ... for those, it's probably better to out cross your bloodlines whenever possible ... for other mutations like albinos, pieds, clowns, stripes .... inbreeding or line breeding for a single generation is fine.

For what it's worth, many of the double recessive combos were produced by breeding sibling double hets together.

Which is my situation... I'm just starting, don't have a ton of money to invest, but have some interesting ideas that could be done in 4 years instead of 8 with some sibling action. Of course, the designer morph I'd REALLY like to "create" will take a min of 8-10 years, even with breeding sibs, unless I can find some mature animals that already have the right het mixes... It's POSSIBLE, and in fact I know the animals are to be had if you've got the money, but right now I don't...

Thank you Adam, I was hoping you'd chime in on this subject... You're pretty much my hero in the morph world. haha

Anyways, my ideas all center around a 3+ morph combo involving recessives and co-doms... If it's acceptable to do so, shortcuts will GLADLY be taken...

yea after i read my post it seems it's a little confusing.

i meant that with pastels you breed lemons to lemons and grazianis to grazianis to keep the lines nice and pure. to do this to breed siblings right? thats how i understood it.
