    Some UTH companies will void their waranty if you use paper towels or newspaper. That said I have never heard of these causing a problem if you use as t-stat. Of course this same company recomends using a t-stat if the house is above 80, LOL. Use one regardless!

    The first one shows how much they can Pee - on aspen you might not see this as easily. That's why I prefer newspaper really as I know when it is clean and when it isn't.

    And to forestall the comments yes it is very handy having a snake that poops batteries.

    In my glass tank, I use a layer of newspaper with a layer of plain white paper towels on top. I like it because it's all in sections. Of course, I always know a snake has peed because the humidity on the Acurite bumps about 15% suddenly, but with the white paper towels I can find the yellow spot right away. I pull up the soiled section, clean the glass with antibacterial soap, allow it to dry, then replace the section. Works like a charm!

    Cheap too!
