    Re: My new Blood Python

I'll definately be checking out the site sources you provided. I should have entered the Ball python market with more of a game plan purchasing all females. But I'm just a fairly new fan to snake collecting and realizing these guys can pay for themselves with a game plan. Considering the growing interest in morph reptiles, I'll be sure to take a more calculated approach if I plan to possibly get into future Blood breeding. I'm sure there are gonna be many more ball python keepers that are gonna take interest in quality Bloods in the future like I did. I'll start getting ahead of the game. I greatly appreciate your guidence in the Blood world. You definately have my referal as the Blood Guy to go to.
Got my first Morphs and haven't looked at snakes the same since.

    Re: My new Blood Python

I have to agree with Tim, he does look like a mutt-hybrid, he will probably make for a great pet, I don't think I would breed him to an albino female.
The spine I also got freaked out by my first Borneo when it got hear, I was thinking she was underweight, no thats how they roll, but the video shows the belly and there you can see something is wrong, hope it only is lack of food.
I'm sure you will have him up to health soon, thanks for rescuing him!

    Re: My new Blood Python

Thanks Martin. Didn't purchase this guy for breeding purposes, just a first blood pet, and to get him out of that horrible store. But the more I research Bloods the more interested I become. Just checked out the VPI site and been drooling. :o) Been to the VPI site before but only researched Ball Pythons. As I wait for Ball Python eggs I'll be keeping myself busy educating myself on bloods, short tails, and lineage. If I ever do breed bloods I'll be looking to produce quality animals that will do well in the market, so I'll be doing a lot of shopping around. Not to mention I still have a long ways to go even if I do get a female since I prefer to purchase my animals as babies and juveniles.

    Re: My new Blood Python

And the Plot thickens! Decided to pop/sex my Blood/Borneo today and just was having trouble getting his Hemipenes to come out. I was under the impression Bloods should sex just like Ball pythons so when I couldn't get his hemipenes to come out I took it to my normal reptile store to get an experts advice and have it probed. Come to find out He is a She! After all the other faults from the store I purchased my animal from, I don't know why I took the owner's word for it that it was a male. I didn't want to disturb the snake after it just ate at the store so I never checked myself until today. Well this snake will be larger then intended but loved non-the-less. Who knows, since she might possibly already be a Borneo Hybrid/Mutt maybe I'll try some Superballs with her in the future. lol

    Re: My new Blood Python

The particular group of snakes is somewhat difficult to sex in that females will evert a musk gland that can be mistaken for a hemipene..Coloration plays a big part, with the female being pinkesh and the males a darker purple color..
