    "Boobie egg" finally hatched...

One full week after the first clutch-mate hatched, little "Bobbie the Boobie" (as a friend dubbed him/her) finally decided to emerge. He's actually a bit larger than I predicted, at a whopping 35g, and looks pretty good - but the belly is rather swollen and purple, assuming because the yolk was a bit much for his size. I haven't popped "him" yet, as it's just too fragile-looking at this point.

Anyway, here are some photos, and I had a couple of questions... mostly if everything looks okay, and whether I should do anything special in terms of housing/care for now. He's currently with the other babies (in a small tub with moist paper towels), but I was thinking of moving him to a separate tub tonight. Also, do you think I should start him on fuzzy mice? Doesn't look big enough to handle a hopper!

"Belly button" is a little weird too - like he's overstuffed!

P.S. As you can see, I was wrong in my original guess of him being a mojave... he was just so far behind the other babies, his coloring hadn't come in when I cut them last week. D'oh! Oh well, he's still cute as a button.

Yay for more boob egg babies.

As for care, I kept mine in with everybody else and he did fine. I did start him on fuzzies though.

Awesome! I'm loving that clear belly! As far as feeders, hopper mice or small rat pinks would be ok. Just remember the golden rule, feed them meals as big around as the fattest part of their bodies (or 10-15% body weight).

Thanks all! So the belly looks okay? Guess I'll see how he is post-shed, before determining how big his first meal should be... thinking it'll probably be a tiny hopper or fat fuzzy.

Btw, I was having a (rather irritating) discussion with a woman at the dog park tonight, about how disgusting she thinks snakes are... she said "I'm sorry, but the words SNAKE and CUTE or SWEET never belong in the same sentence." Tell that to Bobbie the Boobie!!
