    Keeping track of breedings

How do you handle keeping tabs on what snakes you breed to which? A notebook? Excel spreadsheet? I have a horrible memory and I'm looking for an efficient way to track the breedings. TIA!

Both work, it all depends on what works for you. Excel is my preferred method, that way you can search it easily, edit it easily, the format itself is ideal for keeping track of anything.

I typed up a spread sheet with my breeding matches and then just have to fill in what dates I had them paired, did I see a lock, that sort of thing. I've tried keeping it on the computer and thought about reptilescan but figure if my hands are always dirty from spot cleaning tubs I'm going to scribble it on a note pad to enter into the computer/app later then why not just type up nicer sheets. I have less than 100 snakes so it's not as much to track as big breeders.

I'm a pencil & paper guy. I keep track of everything in a notebook.

    Re: Keeping track of breedings

I just put a sticky note on the tub of every adult female I have. If a male goes into her tub, I write down which male and if there was a lock. This is also where I eventually write down ovulation and pre-lay shed dates.

At the end of the season, I take the sticky notes down and put everything into my breeding records binder and put photos of the pairings on my computer (especially important if you deal with recessive morphs!).

I'm with Deborah and I use reptile scan. QR codes make everything so easy and it's backed up and can be accessed anywhere....
