New pvc enclosure. Heating questions
Good afternoon. And thanks for all the help on my baby boa. I do have some more questions. I purchased a pvc enclosure today at my local reptile expo. Measurements are roughly 45×16×18. I do know its alittle big for a young boa but I will put plenty of hides in there. Hopefully being a male I can get couple years out of this enclosure.
I do have some heating questions. I am the one that currently has a sterlite tub and heating my whole bedroom to 79 degrees to keep the ambient temperature up. I am hoping that now I have a pvc enclosure i can mount something inside to just heat the enclosure and not my whole room. What do folks usually use inside pvc? Is it the radient heat panel? I have searched numerous stores and I can not find one, any other ideas for heat that can be mounted? I will also use a uth in the cage.

Nice! You'll definitely get some good years out of that.
I would definitely go with a RHP. The link above is the same I would have suggested. With RHPs you don't even need to add belly heat, so the UTH isn't needed. Of course, there's nothing wrong with offering both, but with my PVC enclosures I run just the RHP and get a good temp gradient.

Re: New pvc enclosure. Heating questions
Someone has a brand new vivarium 125 watt RHP for sale for $80. If I use an an on off thermostat, will that control this if it gets too hot?

Re: New pvc enclosure. Heating questions
So I purchased the 120 watt reptile basics RHP tonight from craigslist. Brand new unit. Of course I didnt do enough research and I now have this installed in my new tub. The 120 watt unit is 32 inches long. My pvc enclosure is 45 inches long so this RHP covers most of the enclosure. I am playing around this evening with a thermostat on it without my snake in there. Its definitely raising temps in there.
I do think the 120 watt is way overkill for a 45 inch cage(18 height) but is this going to be an issue with a thermostat plugged in? I hope not as I am way way over budget right now. And your right, I don't think I need a uth with this setup.
