Newb to reptiles and problems already

Hello all, I'm new to reptiles. I am and have been a trainer of German Shepherd Dogs (Schutzhund) and Labs (Hunt and Field Trials) for years. I am currently owned by the best and loving Great Dane that has ever existed. Just one week ago we purchased a beautiful BP female (1300+ grams). She is great, I think. First full day of ownership and vet visit was entailed. Now she has been "hospitalized" for the last three days and we plan to leave her there for at least three more. She has moderate to severe RI. I called the seller who just wanted to trade her - not my game. I'm concerned that he would either destroy her or sell her again in her current condition.

Has anyone had experiences with BP's and RI? Vet seems to think she will come through ok, but still has concerns.

Another question - what does the "1.0" or "1.1" designate when users post their snakes in their sigs?

Luckily I haven't had to deal with health problems with my snakes but this link should answer your question about the "1.0" and "1.1..." in signatures.

to the forum. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with RI yet. If you check in the General BP and the BP husbandry sections you will find several threads from people who are currently or recently dealt with this. You can also try the Search function. Type in Respiratory Infection and it will pull up over 400 hundred more. I hope your new BP recovers ok...

1.1 is the sex of the snakes owned by the owner.

    1.0 is a male
    0.1 is a female
    0.0.1 is unknown.

Have you thought of contacting the person you bought her from and asking for a refund? First day and she has RI already means she had it when you bought it, I don't believe it's caught in the first day. Thank god I haven't had to deal with it (knock on wood)
