    The cleanest BEL...

Ok, I'm trying to create the cleanest BEL possible. By clean I mean absolutly no pattern and completely white. I've read everywhere that the beat way to do this is by breeding lesser x lesser. I've already bought a female lesser and she's pretty light colored. I'm trying to find a male to breed with with her.

Now my question for you is, does the color of the lessers make a difference on the cleanliness of the BEL they will produce? Because if it does, I'll wait for the perfect male to come around.

    Thanks in advance!

It shouldnt. However it is always good to get the best you can, because you never know what other projects you may want to do with it, and a great looking parent means a good chance of great looking offspring.

I mean think of it this way, you're spending a couple hundred dollars, when next year they may cost half what they do now, what's spending the extra 50 bucks to get a gorgeous one from a reputable dealer? That snake will go on to produce better looking everything and allow you to charge a little extra for what it produces. Even if you just want it to look at, the best lesser looks a lot better than the average lesser.

    Re: The cleanest BEL...

must remember that the actual pattern, ( color cleanness, and flaming will depend on the snake not the parents completly). Just like with pieds the amount of white and it placement is totally random.( heck with any snake )
Was married to 4theSNAKElady (still wish we were)
    Ball pythons
    0.1 pieds 1.0 banana pied
    0.1 het pied

3.1 sugar gliders ( non breeding pets)

Lesser x lesser is not the best way to go IMO due to the bug eye issue. Lesser x mojave is just as white and as far as I know does not have the eye problem. Neitheris totally pure white though. Most have a bit of a very faint eye stripe and are not as bright of a white as a pied. The only truly PURE white snake that I know of is a lesser pied.

I have a lesser x mojave and its extremely white with no pattern. With that combo it depends on the individual animal. Lesser x Lesser is supposed to be cleaner but the Het Russo combo i believe is supposed to be the cleanest and i believe that carries the "White Diamond" designation if i'm not mistaken.

You can't be sure as to what the offspring will look like. There are hidden genes to worry about. The outcome of breeding any 2 snakes is as much an art as it is a science. You can't be sure what you've got until you've got it.

    Good Luck!

I don't understand the "bug eye problem". What's the difference in the lesser x lesser and lesser x mojave when it comes to their eyes?
