    Re: Wanting a crested gecko...

you've come to the right forum! there are alot of us crested addicts here.
cresteds are really cool geckos, so many colors and patterns! most of the babies are a little jumpy most outgrow this. alot depends on how much time you put into handling. you don't have to worry about biting. you can find alot of cresteds on kingsnake.com ads under classifieds. i've seen babies from 30-200 bucks. hope this helps.

    Re: Wanting a crested gecko...

If you take some time to sift through the rhac/crested forum you will find that often times "cheap" is not what you want to be looking for often times the cheap geckos are a week or less out of the egg and the breeder wants to move them so he/she doesnt have to feed them or get them through their first delicate weeks of life, I would recommend starting with animals that are around 3-4 months of age that are well started and have good weight take the time and find a good breeder that will take the time to help you in your success it will be worth the little extra
As far as what your getting in to .. they are much more work than snakes certainly but not hard to maintain ,feeding and cleaning are an every day chore that has to be done, they like to pay in their food!

    Re: hey need some help

Hiya Victoria. Cresties are great little lizards. As was mentioned, the babies can be jumpy, but they generally calm down with handling and age. It's not even a problem as far as I'm concerned, just means you need to keep a good eye on them whenever the cage is open or you have them out, and keep cats and dogs away from them. You can get young, plain cresties for anywhere from $35 to $70 or so, depending on who you get them from and if you happen to get them when they have a surplus of babies. It might be hard to afford Anthony Caponetto's babies, but there are a lot of smaller breeders with cresties that still may have some bright colors or interesting patterns for $100 or so.

    Re: Wanting a crested gecko...

reptile shows vary according to where you live, but you can find good deals at them. there are alot of crested breeders and dealers, is there a specific type or trait or morph you are looking for? i've dealt with dr. scott stahl, kevin at dragon's den, robbie hamper, aaron's frog farm, and phillippe vosjoli and can recommend all of them.
