Another shedding thread....
So i noiticed my snakes eyes cloudy. So i knew she was going to shed. I have been spraying the tank down inside 3 times a day to keep the humidity up around 65-75%. And the water bowl is always full. So right before she was going to shed i gave her the first adult mouse she has ever had. She loved it! So i put her in the tank and she goes to the cool hide. well shes been staying in the cool hide and i am afriad she is getting to cool. Thats one of my issues is thatmy mail bp follows her every where to ball up together. well the male was cool to the touch so i can imagine the female shedding is too. Now is this a problem being after she just ate and cant digest right b/c of her body temp? also she has started shedding th skin off and i dont know if its suppose to all come off like a tube sock or what? My bp is shedding in many small peieces does that mean i did something wrong? I just remember reading that it should all be in one peiece. Maybe i am freaking my self out. The cool side is around 70-75f and 80 during the hot part of the day. But i dont want her to get a respitory infection. Any advise will help.

dont worry about this shed as long as it all comes off. next time give her short 10 - 15 min baths in warm water. that will help a lot. try and keep them temps up from dropping below 80 and make sure she has a hot hide ( 92 F )and a cool hide ( 82 F ). as for your snake going to the cool side after she ate, well all u can give her is the temperatures she needs and she will go were she wants to go or needs to go. she knows best. good luck

Shedding in pieces, as long as it all comes off, is fine. If it doesn't then I would suggest a humid hide. They're great. Now it sounds like you may have a couple other issues that I think you need to address. The first being housing two snakes together. I would separate them. They are not social animals, and really do not need the added stress. Secondly I agree with new2bp, get those temps up. Around 82 on the cool side and 92 hot side. Fiddle with undertank heaters and heat lamps if you have to but definitely get those temps up. How are you checking temps and humidity?

There are serveral opinions on the 2 snakes to one enclosure issue you bring up. I read countless books, articles, forums etc. My snakes get along 100% fine. They eat every week and show no aggression or stressed behavior. I am going to leave it at that b/c if you think it doesnt work then thats fine for you, i just have proved it works, as well as 3465777 people in this world. I am checking my temps with laser temp gun and a humididty gage.

You took a count?
Nobody says that you CAN NOT keep two ball pythons in one enclosure. Keeping multiples is not going to kill the snake...actually you could probably cram 5 bps into one enclosure and they would 'live'. It is just that the majority of people know that it is BETTER to keep ball pythons alone in an enclosure due to the experience of breeders that have been keeping ball pythons for 20+ years. Keeping a single ball python in a single enclosure is the BEST way to keep the animal....it is just that simple. Feel free to keep multiple bps in one enclosure if you like to do things that way and it may suit you just fine and I have no problem with that....just know that you are not provideing the BEST possible housing for your animals.

The main reason I brought it up is because of your previous statement. It sounds like one snake is trying to dominate the other. I just wanted to give you some advice, it's up to you if you heed it or not. Good luck with your snakes.
