    Show Off Your Labs

Well since this breed is consistently in the top three dogs registered by the AKC and a beloved breed world wide I thought it might be fun to start this thread.

We just got a new Labrador Retriever a couple of weeks back (here's the thread on that http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=58005). Her name is Bella, she's a yellow obviously and 10 months old. She's our third Lab. Shadow was a black female I rescued over 20 years ago. She was a very beloved family member, raised with my oldest three children and passed away quietly in her sleep after a good long life. Next we had Maggie, another lovely black female. Maggie was only with us a relatively short time. She passed away just shy of 4 years of age from a very aggressive cancer.

Here's our new girl...lovely Miss Bella.

Show your favorite pics of your own Lab, past or present. Do any of you hunt with them (both on land and on the water)? Do you work with them as service dogs? I love the ability of this breed to be both a wonderful hunting companion and working animal but also to be a very relaxed family pet.

    Re: Show Off Your Labs

Aww, she looks just like a mutt lab we had when I was a kid (german shepherd mix) . My aunt works with Leaders for the Blind dogs, and they are commonly Labs. I think it's an excitable breed, but they are hard working, devoted, family animals. I'll have to see if I took any shots of her puppy she has right now...

Jo, your Bella is adorable, and I am glad that my lab is not the only one to sleep on his back. My Cubby sleeps just like your Bella does in the pic you posted.

Here are a few pics of my Cubby. He's a purebred Black Lab, and today is his B-Day. So in honor of his 1st birthday, here are a few pics of him. I do need to get some new ones taken of him.

These pics are from the summer. He still looks basically the same, just a bit stockier as well as much much bigger. He is a horse!!

Here are a couple of his little puppy pics.

Awww Pam he's gorgeous and happy doggie birthday to him. What a lovely big black he is. I always had trouble with my female black Labs with getting good pictures. That lovely dark coat is just a bugger to photograph well isn't it!

Do you have a Kong for him? I swear that's the best dog chew/toss around toy ever invented. Bella can pretty much destroy any other toy given her, but her Christmas Kong doesn't even have a tooth mark in it yet....YAY!

Your eyes couldn't be that bad... that's one fuzzy, tiny old picture. I have no idea, though. I imagine some famous chemistry geek. Sigmund Teflon or maybe Dr. Polyester Schnoitzenfoik?

Here is my boy Zab. He is a big baby, but extremely protective of his family, the most gentle dog I have ever had. My kids at 4 and 3 can do anything to him, and he just sits there and gives them kisses. He is friendly, happy, and LOVES marshmellows, the best dog I have ever had. I call him my big black bear. He is 8 months old.
