    Pastel and Super Pastel Goodness

The Pastel Ball Python is the first Morph that most people work with. Because of their ready availability and reasonable price they are sometimes taken for granted. I am going to post some pictures of some very nice Pastels, Super Pastels and combos of both of them that I produced this year to show just what Selective Breeding can do.

Earlier this year I posted some picture of these first two animals. There were produced from a Sterling to Pastel breeding. Both parents were extremely good looking but I was not prepared for how good looking the offspring were. I had plenty of Female Pastels so I wasn’t planning on keeping any more but this one was just not going anywhere. I have never seen a Graziani line with as clean a body color. She almost looks like a Lemon/Graziani cross. Here are some current photos of her.

This next one was her clutch mate. I have produced quite a Few Super Pastels but none as clean looking as this one. She isn’t going anywhere either.

Next lets get to one of the combo’s. I produced a lot of great looking Pewters this year but this is the one Female I decided to hold back for myself.

Next up is the Paradox Pewter I produced. I am not sure if I am going to keep him or not since I have a Male Sterling and a Male Silver Bullet but for the time being he is hanging here.

The next ones up are two very pretty Female Pastel Mojaves. I love these girls and in a few years I plan on using them in a Crystal project. The first one is PASTMOJ08-1.

This next one is PASTMOJ08-2. She is my favorite of the two. I just love that white blushing coming up from the belly.

The last combos I am going to feature are the Pastel mixed with the Yellow Belly. The first one up is a very pretty Female Pastel Yellow Belly. She will be used in the Super Stripe project in a few years unless some other really cool Yellow Belly project pops up by then.

The last one is a real powerhouse. He is a Super Pastel Yellow Belly. If I breed him to a Yellow Belly and I hatch out any Ivories they will all be Pastel Ivories. Cool huh?

Here he is breeding a Pastel Yellow Belly. With some luck I could produce a Super Pastel Ivory from that breeding. That would be fun.

Well I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the next time you look at the lowly Pastel remember that with a little help from Selective Breeding you can do a tremendous amount with them.

PS Some of you may or may not know but I am going to be a guest on Reptile Radio Saturday night (actually Sunday morning 1/25/09 12:00 –1:30 AM), and we will probably be talking about some of these animals. Reptile Radio can be found at the following link. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/reptileradio If you can’t listen to the show live please make sure you download it so you can listen to it your convenience.
    Thanks,

Total sweetness! That paradox pewter is awesome, I'm not a fan of pewters (well any cinnamon or cinnamon combo) but that paradox is hot!

I think my eyeballs have burned out from all that bright pastel goodness. That little paradox is a stunner.
