    New Cages!!! DUW

So I have been working on this for about a month. The construction has been complete for about a week and a half but i have still been spending time getting stuff set up. Sooo here are my new hand built snake cages. They are out of 3/4" birch. The rear vent is pegboard. The top one is 3x2x1 (for George my BP) and the bottom is 4x2x18" (for Frank my Suriname Boa).

Feel free to ask questions about any part of the design or construction. The 2 cages in all cost me just under $200.

    Thanks for looking!

    The 2 cages

Inside of the top BP cage (I still need to clean up the thermometer wire)

Inside of the bottom for the Boa (shelf on the back for him to bask on, he is coiled behind the hide at the moment- he just ate so didn't want to disturb to photo)

One happy cozy BP named George who just shed over the weekend
    Thanks!

Nice cages! At first I thought the one on the bottom was for a Ball Python, and I was going to say that the shelf was a complete waste of time , but then I realized it was for a Boa. Great work!

Wow, those are really nice! I love that finish. Did you happen to take any pictures of the construction process? I'm about to start building a few cages for my boas and can use all the tips I can get my hands on.

A few construction pics but I don't have em handy. The design came off of Clay Davenports site http://www.arbreptiles.com/. Lots of really really good information there on building cages. I used a different door design than the ones he shows, but other than that they are pretty much the same.

What parts of construction do you have questions on? Its pretty simple Cut (which home depot did most of for me), Sand, Stain, Seal, Assemble.
    Thanks!

Very very nice job! I'm jealous Is that an RHP you are using? I'm having a friend build me a custom enclosure & I'm thinking of using an RHP for it. However I am not sure where I could mount it since the top of the cage will actually be made of an old window frame, it will be 36 x 36 square, if that makes any sense.

yes those are RHPs from RBI... email Rich, you may be able to mount it on that window frame.... He was very helpful in recommending size and placement for them.
    Thanks!
