    Looking into carpets

Hey yall for the past month or so I've been looking into coastal and jungle carpets, the more I research them the more I like'em. Havent decided between the two yet, but I'm leaning towards coastal. Just a couple questions Ive got-

I know the average lengths on them, but what are they like in terms of girth?

For an adult coastal, would a 4x2x2 cage be big enough? Or would I need to go 5' length?

What kind of size difference would one expect between males and females?

    Thanks!

    Re: Looking into carpets

i use 5x2x2 for large females... the females do get quite large compared to males, at least with coastals. here's a recent pic of one of mine... held by my wife, who's about 5'9". pic quality is terrible but should give you a feel for girth/lenth.

That's a great looking snake, you said that's a female right?

About what I figured as for size, and that pic was perfect to give me an idea thanks. I like the jungles, but I want something a little larger and I think coastals look great, in a simpler way. Glad yall reccomend them

thanks, yeah... she's a red coastal jaguar.

also, she's very large... they definitely do not all get that big.

I've read they average 7-10', would you say that's about right?

maybe in australia, but here in the US i'd say 6-8 feet. 9+' is considered really large...

Ok that's a good thing, the only reason I had considered jungles was I was afraid a coastal would get TOO big, thanks for the info!

I like the coastals more than jungles. Another one of my favorite snakes is the bredli. Cant go wrong with any carpet tho!
