    BAH-1000sc thermostat

I was looking at getting the BAH-1000sc thermostat from big apple herp website. Does anyone know anything about this thermostat, I want it just to control the heat pads under my tanks. What kind of expirenece does anyone have with these?

Expensive for what they are and allow temps to fluctuate too much.

In my opinion you would be better of with a switch dimmer (which would only cost you the 4th of the price)

As far as T-Stat goes I would not recommend anything lower than Ranco or Johnson on the low end.

I'm using one on a baby rack. It doesn't have to do too much though, the rack on full power has the bins between 90-92 to 82-83 (haven't checked to see if the acurites are completly acurate....) But I have seen it kick off a couple times....

    No problems so far....

I've heard about the dimmer switch before, where can I get one and does it require any rewiring? I really dont think my heat pad can be rewired at all

I personally wouldn't recommend a dimmer (or rheostat) unless your room that you house your snake(s) in has a rock steady temperature. With a dimmer it always puts out constant power at whatever setting you have it set at. So if your room cools down, then it may need adjusting, if your room warms up, it may need adjusting. Basically, you'll always be adjusting it unless the room is constant.

I'd go for a Ranco t-stat. Can be had for not that much and would be better than a dimmer.
